Earthwork & Sitework Takeoff

Earthwork bids run on cubic yards of cut and fill — we calculate volume from the actual grading plan, not a flat site-area assumption.

We calculate cut and fill volumes from the grading plan against existing and proposed elevations, quantify site utility trenching and bedding, and measure paving, curb and sidewalk areas — the scope that turns a building bid into a complete site package.

How we take it off

Cut and fill volumes are calculated by comparing existing and proposed grade elevations across the site, not estimated from average grade change over the site area. Utility trenching is measured along the actual routed alignment from the utility plan, with bedding and backfill volume calculated from trench width and depth. Paving, curb and walk areas come directly from the site plan.

What the second-estimator review is checking

  • Cut and fill volume estimated from an average elevation change instead of a real grade comparison across the site
  • Utility trench backfill volume not adjusted for pipe bedding requirements
  • Topsoil strip and respread quantities left out of the earthwork total
  • Erosion control (silt fence, inlet protection) omitted from the site package entirely

Typical turnaround

48–72 hours

What we quantify

  • Cut and fill volume from grading plan comparison
  • Utility trenching, bedding and backfill
  • Paving, curb and sidewalk area
  • Erosion control and site restoration quantities
