Quantity Takeoff

A quantity takeoff is the measured inventory of everything shown on the drawings, organized so pricing can be applied to it. It's the step every other estimate depends on.

What it is

A quantity takeoff lists every measurable item of work on a set of construction documents — linear feet of framing, square feet of drywall, cubic yards of concrete, counts of fixtures and devices — organized by trade or CSI division. It doesn't include pricing on its own; it's the quantities that pricing gets applied to. This is the deliverable behind every trade page on this site: when you order a concrete takeoff or an electrical takeoff, a quantity takeoff is what you're actually getting for that trade.

When to ask for this

Ask for a quantity takeoff when you already have your own pricing (unit costs, labor rates, supplier quotes) and just need accurate quantities to apply them to — common for subcontractors and trade contractors who know their own numbers cold but don't have time to measure a full set during bid week.

Available for every trade we cover

Quantity Takeoff isn’t limited to one trade — request it for a single scope or a full multi-trade bid package.
